Twyford and Ruscombe Theatre Group present Proscenophobia.
In the dressing-room of a provincial theatre two ageing actresses, Addie and Millie, bicker about the their parts in the current production. The two ladies are both long standing friends and rivals, so when they receive news that a mutual old flame is in the audience long buried resentments are stirred. Times are hard and the future uncertain, and maybe their gentleman friend could offer the tantalising opportunity of a comeback?
Tension rises and suspense builds when Addie, the leading lady in the thriller they are performing, begins to feel seriously unwell and for the first time her understudy, Millie, takes her place in the dramatic and violent last act of the play. Who will be the victim and who the victor in this cat and mouse game?
Proscenophobia will be the third play by Bettine Manktelow that has been staged by the group at Loddon Hall, Twyford. Previous productions were Curtain up on Murder in 2001 and Curtain Call in 2005.
Performances will be at Loddon Hall on Wednesday 5th then Friday 7th and Saturday 8th at 8pm. Tickets are £6 and £8 each and can be purchased by calling 0845 45 01308.
