Glimpse bird art at Hurst Lavell's Lake
After the new hide was officially opened last autumn, the council’s countryside service decided to invite local youngsters to create pictures of the some of the birds that can be seen on the Hurst Lavell’s Lake reserve.
Assistant ranger Caroline Cheeseman has been working with St Nicholas Church of England Primary School in Hurst, where the after-school environment club has produced a series of beautiful paintings of birds.
The countryside service has displayed the artworks inside the hide, and the young artists were invited along with the mayor to see the paintings unveiled last week. The mayor said: “I had a lovely afternoon with the children from St Nicholas Church of England Primary School, who were from the school’s Environment group. I enjoyed being with this enthusiastic team who chatted happily with visitors!”
