Twyford Village Centre Management Initiative, Public Open Forum

With the completion of the skate park and ballcourt this autumn, TVCMI will have completed its programme of projects, although we hope the Christmas Fayre will be ongoing. Now the organisation needs new blood and new ideas to create other schemes that will benefit the community. Coincidentally, local government also is keen to develop schemes that will have economic benefit.

Funding streams are becoming available for community projects through rural development agencies to create improvements to facilities in the village and eligible neighbouring parishes. Obtaining such funds means projects and schemes can be engaged upon without necessarily increasing parish precepts that would be imposed on residents unpopularly. TVCMI is eligible for grants of this nature in relation to Twyford and can be instrumental in attracting funding that both Borough and Parish could utilise to effect in the village.

To be eligible for these types of grants, the community as a whole needs to develop a vision. The purpose of the Public Open Forum is to hear about these opportunities and encourage planning by the community of schemes that will put it in control of its own future. All those with an interest are invited to attend.

The meeting is on Friday 5th October in the hall of St. Thomas More Church in London Road, Twyford at 7.30pm.
