Twyford Police Neighbourhood update
Here is the latest neighbourhood policing update for the Twyford group from Neighbourhood Specialist Officer (NSO) PC Glyn Wildey.
Having been the Neighbourhood (or Beat) Officer for Wargrave and Remenham for a number of years, I officially took up the new role of Neighbourhood Specialist Officer on July 1.
At the moment I am assisted by Police Community Support Officer (PCSO) Jackie Daniels who in the main covers Sonning, Charvil and Hurst, and in mid October we will be joined by Jonathan Stanley who will take up the position of PCSO for Wargrave and Remenham.
The PCSO vacancy for Twyford and Ruscombe will hopefully be filled towards the end of the year which will complete our team.
Both our Neighbourhood Action Groups (NAGs) are working well on their priorities and both have their next meetings during September.
The Sonning, Charvil and Hurst NAG will have a stall at the Sonning Show on Saturday September 8. This will hopefully highlight the work the NAG does, but will also give the opportunity to canvas members of the public about their quality of life issues within the community.
The Twyford, Wargrave, Ruscombe and Remenham NAG has achieved recent success by supporting the Piggott Senior School at Wargrave in relation to a new crossing facility outside the school. Wokingham Borough Council has agreed to provide the funding and hopefully it won’t be too long before the crossing is put in place.
We are continuing to look at anti-social behaviour across the neighbourhood and patrol areas which are giving cause for concern. Following a recent spate of graffiti and criminal damage in Wargrave, some good follow up work by Jackie Daniels within the community assisted in identifying those responsible.
I shall be continuing with my monthly police surgeries in Wargrave, and the next date for the diary is Wednesday September 26. The venue is the Parish Council Office, The Pavilion, Recreation Ground, Wargrave and I shall be there from 10am – noon.
