Twyford Clamper Crisis Resolved!
Local Twyford Lib Dem Councillor persuades owners to drop aggressive clampers.
Stephen Conway, district councillor for Twyford, has had a positive reply to his letter to Workman & Partners, the owners of the private car park behind the shops on London Road. The firm of clampers employed by the owners had been acting
in a very aggressive manner, clamping without warning.
Now, in reply to Stephen’s letter, the owners have decided to employ a different clamping firm, and to instruct them to place stickers on unauthorised parked cars, rather than resort to clamping immediately.
“This is good news”, Stephen says. “I should like to thank Workman & Partners for their helpful response.”
Update from the Councillors
Dear Resident
We have been busy on a range of different issues since we last reported to you in September. We have been:
# Continuing to press for CCTV cover on the Twyford station forecourt - the council has been trying to persuade the rail authorities to take action, but we believe that the council itself must take responsibility if the rail authorities will not.
# Writing to the Council to oppose the proposed new housing sites in Twyford & Ruscombe – we believe that all of the sites identified by landowners are unsuitable, either because they are in the Green Belt, or because they are in countryside in the gaps between settlements. These gaps are vital if we are to avoid the area turning into an urban sprawl.
# Opposing the Conservative-controlled Council’s recent increase in car parking charges - the Conservatives have decided to increase car parking charges in the Council’s own car parks, despite the concerns of local Twyford traders that this will do nothing to help business in our village and town centres. The Lib Dems opposed the rises, and Stephen appeared before the Council’s Scrutiny Committee to present the case against the charges.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if we can help on any council-related matters.
Yours sincerely,
Stephen Conway Dee Tomlin
