Demonstration in support of Twyford Library move.

Members of Twyford & Ruscombe Toddler Group are meeting outside Simmonds & Lawrence on Tuesday 4th July at 10am and walking towards the library to demonstrate how difficult it is to walk along the narrow footpath up the High Street with toddlers, babies and buggies.

We would like the Council to consider relocating the library to the site of J W Green’s bar.

Any other parents/carers who feel that they would visit the library more often with their children if it was located in the centre of Twyford are welcome to join us.

Kind Regards,

Kathy Peck

Chairperson Twyford Toddler Group

Twyford Singers Summer Concert

Residents of Twyford and surrounding areas will have noticed posters going up to advertise the Twyford Singers Summer Concert At 7.30 Pm On Saturday 24th June 2006 At Loddon Hall, Twyford, Berkshire. As always, the local choir will be looking forward to welcoming valued supporters old and new to spend an evening sharing their music. It is the first time that Musical Director Simon Rigby has prepared for the Summer Concert

During rehearsal, Simon said: “The Summer of 2006 is special because in June it is HM the Queen Elizabeth’s official 80th birthday. Our concert will include works of tradition and celebration by composers of several countries. Many of the pieces will be familiar, such as the Coronation Anthem - Zadok the Priest (Handel) and Gloria (Vivaldi). Our finale will be a rousing rendition of Parry’s Jerusalem and Elgar’s God Save the Queen.”

David Brown, Twyford Singers Secretary said: “A popular TV programme recently focused on a competition between chefs to provide the ‘Great British Menu’ for the Queen’s 80th birthday celebrations at Mansion House, London. Thankfully we don’t have to go up before a panel of judges but we hope that our international selection of musical dishes will combine to produce a suitable menu for this summer occasion. Apart from the regular members of the choir we will be joined by guest soloists Katherine Lewington and Gavin Watts and we hope that the result will be enjoyed by all.”

Judith Hallinan, Twyford Singers Chairman, said: “We hope many people will support the choir on the night because all the proceeds of the raffle will be split between two charities. The charities are Dreamflight, which takes seriously ill children on a ‘holiday of a lifetime’ to Florida, and Ruscombe-based Feed the Children which supplies goods and financial assistance to humanitarian and relief projects at home and abroad.”

Twyford Singers Summer Concert at 7.30 pm on Saturday 24th June 2006, Loddon Hall Twyford.

Ticket price: £6.00 including refreshment. Tickets from 0118 934 2406/5985 or at the door. Please see www.twyford-singers.org.uk <http://www.twyford-singers.org.uk/> for further information on the choir.
