Attempted armed robbery – Ruscombe

Police are appealing for witnesses to an attempted armed robbery at a shop in Ruscombe on Monday (20/3).

Two teenage white males entered BS Stores, in Ruscombe Road, at 7.40pm and threatened the owner with a hand-gun.

But the shop-keeper held his ground and chased the offenders out of his shop. They left the scene empty handed in a dark coloured car with no lights on.

DI Ian Winson, from Loddon Valley CID, who is leading the investigation, said: “We are linking this attempted robbery to similar incidents in Charvil and Meadow Road, Wokingham, last week, and we are treating all three cases very seriously.

“Our investigations are ongoing at this stage and we will take every action necessary to detain the offenders.”

The offender who held the hand-gun is white, 5ft 10ins – 6ft, and between 18 and 20 years old. He wore a black hooded top, black trousers and black footwear, and he covered his mouth with a scarf.

The second man is white, around 5ft 6ins and 16-17 years old. He wore a black puffer jacket and a balaclava or scarf over the lower part of his face. He also had dirty white trainers.

Anyone with any information about this incident should contact DI Winson at Loddon Valley police station via 0845 8 505 505.

Alternatively, if you don’t want to speak to police or give your name, please call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
