ABOUT FEED THE CHILDREN

Feed The Children works internationally, specialising in providing emergency relief to communities in need. With offices in Twyford (near Reading) and Bristol, the charity collects and dispatches essential goods to countries such as Angola, Liberia, Uganda, and most recently, the Tsunami-hit area of south Asia.

Loaders

FEED THE CHILDREN

Occasionally – once a month or so - some extra help is needed for loading aid lorries, and we need a few of people we can call on. Loaders need to be physically fit, and capable of some heavy work.

Who might do this?

Big strong people who can spare an odd day occasionally. Lorries are packed at either Twyford, or Remenham (near Henley on Thames ).

Fund-raisers

FEED THE CHILDREN

Fund-raising isn't just holding a can outside a supermarket. Feed The Children volunteers run stalls at their local fair, sell raffle tickets, attend exhibitions, talk to school assemblies, give presentations to businesses, organise fun-runs, run charity concerts, sponsored swims… and sometimes hold cans outside supermarkets.

We have volunteer vacancies at our Twyford office.

Volunteers working with children will be required to complete a CRB check.

Who might do this?

People with time to spare, an outgoing personality and some organisational skills.

Office/admin

FEED THE CHILDREN

There are varied opportunities at Feed The Children's office in Twyford (near Reading ), to help our small team with the essential running and fundraising of the charity. Volunteers help with internet research, compiling data lists, preparing donations for banking, filing, telephone work, preparing mail-outs and stuffing envelopes.

Who might do this?

People with a day or half-day per week to spare, and have some office experience. We welcome people who are looking to update their computer skills, or wish to do voluntary work for a while before returning to paid employment.

Church liaison volunteers

FEED THE CHILDREN

Are you willing to be a contact point for a small numbers of churches near you? Feed The Children need a number of people who could be responsible for a list of say, half-a-dozen churches. You would need to keep your list of contact people up-to-date, and be able to feed them information regularly. In the event of an international emergency, you would be our front line in launching an immediate appeal to our church supporters. We would also ask you to make contacts with the different groups in the churches, and make appointments to give presentations once a year or so.

You will be supported by a Fund Raising Area Manager.

Who might do this?

People with an outgoing, confident personality, who feel comfortable in a church environment and could liaise effectively with clergy and other church officers. Your own vehicle (expenses paid) and good telephone and interpersonal skills essential.
